How do we turn an unexpected effect into a new business without leaving the patients who already depend on us without treatment?
Where this challenge stands
The table works because of the work before and after. The in-person part is 120 minutes; the asynchronous part is what makes them count.

Context
Glucenta was approved as a once-weekly injectable for type 2 diabetes. Patients lose a lot of weight, doctors start prescribing it off-label and demand outgrows our manufacturing capacity. Patients with diabetes write to us because they can't find their dose.
The decision I need to make
Whether to launch a separate brand for obesity or expand Glucenta's label, and how to allocate manufacturing capacity over the next 18 months.
Hypotheses at stake
This is what we believe today and want the table to challenge. After the table you'll see which ones were rejected, changed or added.
A separate obesity brand, with its own price, protects access for patients with diabetes.
We can double manufacturing capacity in 18 months by adding a CDMO.
Doctors will respect the split between the diabetes brand and the obesity brand.
The regulator approves the new indication with the trial data we already have.
Who we want at the table
- Founders in biotech manufacturing or CDMOs
- Regulatory specialists and endocrinologists
- Metabolic-health investors and market-access and pricing specialists
What the table gets
A case with real decisions on regulation, manufacturing, pricing and ethics, discussed with people who lived it from different sides.
Fictional case inspired by the public story of a diabetes drug whose effect on weight opened a new market. ACME Bio, Glucenta, Laura Méndez and every figure are made up.
